Introduction

Every photographer knows that taking the photo is only half of the art. Being able to stage the photo to be how you envision is the other half.

To help bridge this gap, I've put together a list 10 of my favorite couples poses to make it easier for your next session. In this guide you'll find a combination of classic poses and prompts to inspire a gallery full of photos you love. <3

1 - The "Drunk Walk".

Sounds a little silly... I know. But it's one of the best prompts to begin your session. Ask your couple to act like they're drunk (this will show off their personalities) and walk towards the camera. Leads to some cute candids with lots of laughs!

2 - The hug

One of the best ways to capture raw emotion is by doing the hug pose. Ask the

3 - Holding Hands at a Distance

Have your couple hold hands and take a step apart from each other. They can look at each other, the camera, and away! This is a beautiful shot to take in the scenery.

4 - The Cheek Kiss

Want a prompt that brings out the biggest smiles? The cheek kiss will be your best friend. This prompt has many use cases, and can be done standing or sitting. Bonus points if you get the girl to kiss the guy on the cheek.

5 - The Pick-up

This prompt is exactly as it sounds. Pick her up! Sounds simple, but it's a really cute way to show their personalities. It's also a good opportunity for some slow shutter shots if that's your style.

6 - The Spin

One of my all-time favorite photos, especially if she's wearing a dress! This prompt creates a good amount of motion and makes any photo session feel more whimsical.

7 - Sitting next to each other

A classic for a reason. Have your couple sit next to each other while he tells her a joke. Guaranteed laughs and the cutest photos ever!

8 - The Lean

One of my favorite poses for parks or areas with large trees. Have the girl lean against the pole/tree while he walks up to her to flirt. You'll get some intimate moments that feel straight out of a movie!

9 - Spoon Hug

Tell your couple to face the same direction (with the girl behind the guy). This is a classic pose that looks great for everyone!

10 - The classic hand holding

Seems like the most obvious one, but there are infinite variations to this seemingly simple pose. Be sure to include this pose at EVERY SINGLE SESSION! :)
